Texas Senator John Cornyn is running for re-election and running this ad to show how he's a bad ass motherfucker who rides horses, ropes cattle, and cleans up Washington with a manly grin. It's set to the melody of Jimmy Dean's "Big John" and is filmed with the kind of campy masculine overbearing that is usually reserved for truck commercials or Jerry Bruckheimer movies.
The funny part is that this commercial exists. The not so funny part is that it will probably be effective in some parts of Texas.

Man, watching that is pretty creepy.
Though... you can't say it will work exactly, it just will succeed at not failing. I mean really, aren't the re-election rates for a Senator something upwards of 90%? He hasn't fucked up badly enough at any given thing to have his name known by enough voters to have anything other than voting by party lines happen down here. I expect he'll get re-elected, the same way I expect Texas to to lean Republican for the Presidency, even with a milquetoast, uninspiring, bumbling offering like McCain.
