Auz-sploitation

Here is a trailer for Not Quite Hollywood, a documentary about the boom in Australian made B-movies during the 70's and 80's. A number of things came together during this period that created a perfect environment for the funny, sexy, and violent popcorn flicks to incubate. In the 70's, Australia relaxed its censorship laws and began giving tax breaks to film makers for domestic production. These economic boons, combined with a burgeoning sense of Australian pride and identity, birthed a wave of cinema that gave us kickass movies like Mad Max, BMX Bandit, and The Man From Hong Kong. The doc features commentary from Quentin Tarantino, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Dennis Hopper. You can read the AFI article about it Here.
